The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting‐edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post‐docs, post‐graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2200 people. The Laboratory for Nano and Quantum Technologies is a new and growing laboratory dedicated to fundamental and applied research, focusing on the synergies of nanotechnology and quantum science, and with strong ties to academic partners in the ETH domain. We are expanding our current cleanroom infrastructure in the Park Innovaare, where we provide advanced micro and nanofabrication technologies to academic and industrial users. To strengthen the team of the Nanotechnology group we are looking for aProcess EngineerCleanroom technology, 80 ‐ 100 %Your tasks You will contribute to the operation of the existing cleanroom, participate in tool acquisition as well as preparing for the transition to the new cleanroom in Park Innovaare You are developing and optimizing the nanofabrication processes for Quantum Information projects with focus on deposition and characterization of superconducting, metallic and insulating layers mainly by sputtering and evaporation You apply your broad experience in nanofabrication and characterization techniques (SEM, XRD, electrical etc.) to contribute to scientific projects within PSI or with external academic partners You will interact with industrial clients, advise them within your area of expertise and support their needs in terms of process development Establish and maintain online libraries for baseline processes Your profile PhD degree in natural sciences (nanotechnology, experimental physics, material sciences) or related fields Proven track record in nanofabrication, especially hands‐on experience with thin film deposition, especially by physical deposition techniques (sputtering and evaporation) Experience in morphological, optical and electrical characterization of thin metallic or dielectric films Interest in optimizing nanofabrication processes and applying your know‐how to the scientific challenges of PSI and our clients A positive team‐oriented and problem‐solving attitude Excellent organizational and communication skills in English We offerOur institution is based on an interdisciplinary, innovative and dynamic collaboration.
