The selection process is taking place in June 2023. The Business Line Gearless Mill Drives (GMD) is situated in the division Process Industries. The division is operating on a global scale and carrying out large projects throughout the whole project lifecycle. This means from pre-feasibility studies, engineering, commissioning and life-cycle management. A Gearless Mill Drive (GMD) is a system that uses low-frequency, high-torque electrical motors to rotate a large mill. This system eliminates the need for a gearbox or conventional ring-geared mill drives, reducing maintenance needs and increasing energy efficiency. GMDs are often used in grinding operations to process large ore deposits. With the help of our technologies, we want to make our world a better place, contributing to the decarbonization of industrial plants. As a trainee, you will be embedded in our GMD teams. Aim is to allow the trainee to gain understanding on our technology going along with first customer project execution and gain experience on hands-on jobs. An assignment abroad shall complement the experience of a global collaboration, empowering the trainee to transfer into a permanent position. Your responsibilities Experience the operations of an international company firsthand during three different six months assignments over the course of total 18 months structured around the topic of Gearless Mill Drives (GMD): 1st Assignment in Switzerland: product management, sales/business development, engineering or Remote Diagnostic Services (RDS); understanding product portfolio, design criteria through learning on the job in global projects. 2nd Assignment abroad: joining a commissioning on a customer site abroad, supporting a project in an ABB unit or GMD factory abroad. 3rd Assignment in Switzerland: assignment to be jointly shaped by the business and trainee. Possible fields of exposure: R&D, sales/business development, product management, project management, service, or engineering.
